In my personal opinion, the Marble and Granite biomes are not utilised well inside the game. They feel more empty and hollow than other biomes you may come across during your playthroughs, being relatively dull during pre-hardmode, before falling into obscurity by hardmode. Although the architectural structures of both biomes are both fascinating and unique, with the Marble biome being a relatively rocky white plot of land, and the Granite biome being an abyssal black void. The landscape of both these biomes are in my opinion not employed to their fullest potential, with the biomes having the potential to be enhanced by the atmosphere of each of their respective biomes. The enemies within the Granite biome have wasted potential, only dropping Granite blocks on death, which feels lackluster considering the Granite enemies' tough and armoured exterior, making them look a bigger threat than they seem. The mechanics of the Granite Golem could be turned into an interesting accessory, perhaps a hardmode item dropped by a Granite Golem that could reduce the damage of a singular attack by a reasonably high amount, either when pressing a specific button, or just automatically with a large cooldown, perhaps only blocking against a high damage attack, perhaps even fatal. just a unique drop to the Granite biome in hardmode would make this Biome worth exploring during Hardmode, keeping it relevant late game. Perhaps by buffing the Granite Golems in hardmode to keep them a threat will make this enemy a tougher opponent, leaving this suggested accessory a challenge to get. Maybe even a new Granite biome enemy introduced in hardmode to drop this rare accessory could be implemented, as the Granite biome has an active count of The Marble Biome on the other hand, is utilised to a degree in terms of hardmode exclusive content, with the introduction of Medusa, and the Medusa head being a hardmode mage weapon with a low drop-rate. In terms of pre-hard mode, it includes the Gladius, a sword dropped from Hoplites, as well as the javelins that they wield. perhaps a pre-hardmode enemy like the Hoplite that wields the Gladius as a weapon may add some spice to the biome, a quicker more agile version of the Hoplite with a quick attack speed. The Hoplites also have their own exclusive armor set that they drop, granting the player knockback immunity, with cannot be obtained until post-Skeletron otherwise. The Granite biome lacks its own armor set, putting it below the Marble biome once more in terms of utility. The overall aesthetic of the Granite biome is completely underappreciated, not being used to make the creepy and dark atmosphere its capable of creating for both new and old players. In conclusion, it is evident that the Granite biome is lacking in item drops, hardmode enemies, its own armor set and a unique weapon or accessory, all of which the marble biome have in one form or another. The most useful item obtainable from the Granite biome is Granite blocks dropped by both the enemies that spawn from within the dark chasms they reside in. I also realize that the atmosphere of the Granite biome is heavily lacking in the way that its used, not portraying a particularly horrific, pitch-black void that its capable of doing, which i feel new enemies introduced withing the biome, or some sort of debuff when entering it that decreases brightness or damage/ defence could make the biome a much more dangerous place to explore. perhaps giving an enemy in the Granite biome a ranged attack could bring more variety to make the biome more authentic. I believe the Granite biome is underappreciated, undervalued and underused, and i feel betrayed by the way the biome is portrayed. It needs an overhaul in terms of its place in the game, such as loot, item drops & the atmosphere the biome can create. I know it may be too much to ask considering the workload that has been put on the shoulders of Relogic, but i feel it would be a great addition to the game. edit: In retrospect, the Marble biome isnt all that bad in terms of what ive went over, definetly being an example of what could be added to the Granite biome to make it equal to the Marble biome. I do think that making these biomes bigger and less common would make them more enticing to the player in terms of exploration, making these biomes a vast expanse to explore, and giving both a more desolate feel. It would definetly fit the vibe for both of these biomes, having the Marble biome feel like a grand hall of a blank, pale stone, and the Granite biome being a desolate void with shadowy creatures that skulk throughout the chasms.
